Judi Figel BIO
JUDI FIGEL/SINGER & PIANIST
Judi Figel is a dynamite singer and great pianist who
performs a wide variety of music styles. Her repertoire
includes pop, jazz, country, light rock, Broadway and
standards. Her fun-loving personality along with strong
vocals will captivate an audience to provide high quality
entertainment!
Judi can easily perform as a solo singer/pianist and then
transition to fronting an 18 piece big band. She has been
a soloist for wedding ceremonies in and around the
Pittsburgh area since 1980 and had performed for many
years at private venues with the dance band "Starfire".
She now continues to perform with her "Judi Figel
Duo/Trio" in countless public venues in the Pittsburgh
area. She has been a featured vocalist with the Trinity Jazz Orchestra big band, she performed
at the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta, the Byham Theater and has done pre-shows for Bobby
Vinton, John Fogerty, John Cougar Mellencamp, Earth, Wind and Fire, Chicago and Steely Dan
at the Post-Gazette Pavilion and the Chevrolet Amphitheater. She has recorded as a vocalist on
several local artists' albums and has done several commercial spots. Judi is currently in
production on a solo CD project.
Judi is originally from the West Mifflin area and currently resides in Monroeville. She earned a
Bachelor of Music at Oberlin College as a piano major/voice minor specializing in Music
Education and a Master of Music Education at Duquesne University. She has also done post-
graduate study in string teaching at Ohio State University, Villanova University and Berklee
College of Music. She is a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Lambda (national music honor
society). Judi is a retired music instructor of 32 years, spending the majority of her career in the
Plum Borough School District. In addition, she has appeared as a piano accompanist at several
choral festivals in Pennsylvania for PMEA, WCMEA and others. In spring 2010, Judi made her
debut as a guest choral conductor for the PMEA Elementary Songfest which was held in
Johnsonburg, PA.
Having flip-flopped careers with music teaching, Judi now sings professionally at public venues
and private events in the greater Pittsburgh area and beyond.
