Bill Rossetti BIO

Bill Rossetti is a talented and dedicated musician with a long and varied career in both performance and education. Born and raised in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Bill began his musical journey early on, starting to play the trumpet in 4th grade. He took lessons from Carl McVicker in the basement of Patton Heights Elementary School.  However, his musical interests evolved, and by 7th grade, he switched to the tuba, studying under Harold Lyle.

During his time at Gateway High School, Bill was an active participant in both the Band and Orchestra programs. He played tuba in the Band, which was directed by Dick Schuch, (Shoe) and string bass in the Orchestra, directed by Carl McVicker. After high school, Bill pursued higher education at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, majoring in tuba. There, he studied under Dick Dasher and John Little for tuba and Clifford Cox for string bass.

Upon graduation, Bill's career in education began when he took a position at North Catholic High School, where he served as the Band Director and also started a Choral program. In 1981, he moved to South Park High School, where he continued to teach as the Band Director and Choir Director.  Over the years, he expanded his role to teach a variety of subjects, including 4th-grade flutophone and middle school band and chorus.

Currently, Bill is co-Music Director (alongside his wife, Susan) of the Fox Chapel Follies, where he plays an important role in musical theater productions. In addition to his work with the Follies, Bill is a member of several musical ensembles. He plays tuba in the North Pittsburgh Symphonic Band and the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, and he also plays string bass in both groups. Furthermore, Bill is an active member of the Calvary Episcopal Church Choir, where he contributes his musical talents to the community.

Bill's long-standing commitment to music and education has made him a respected figure in the Pittsburgh area, and his passion for music continues to shape the lives of his students and audiences alike.
